Bandar Anzali which was used to be called Bandar-e Pahlavi is one of the most significant ports of Iran and also the first and the biggest port in the southern part of the Caspian Sea located in Gilan Province, in the north of Iran. Being one of the main economical centers, Anzali is one of the main cities of Gilan province. It lies on both sides of the entrance to Anzali Lagoon which is a natural attraction that is home to various types of birds and is known for its beautiful water lilies. The Anzali Lagoon is a popular spot among nature lovers and bird watchers.
Bandar Anzali was founded in the early 19th century. The port was occupied by the Russians in 1920 and they declared a Soviet Republic of Gilan, which just lasted for one year and it collapsed in 1921.
Anzali’s altitude is 26 meters above sea level and it has a humid subtropical climate. Anzali is one of the rainiest regions of Iran.
Anzali is located in a free zone that supplies notable potentials and opportunities for merchants and investors that makes it the most important port in the Caspian Sea.

Anzali’s marvelous lagoon, Customs and City Hall edifice (Shahrdari-e Anzali), Mian Poshte Palace, and Motamedi Edifice are its main tourist attractions.
